QUANTUM
Quantum is a new body of work that bridges art and physics by celebrating the unseen forces that shape existence. This series transforms the seventeen invisible particles of the Standard Model of the universe into vivid, dynamic forms. Beyond the reach of even an electron microscope, these particles are the essential bursts of energy that define reality, yet they remain unknowable to the human eye. Quantum imagines their presence through bold compositions and radiant gold, offering viewers a glimpse into the invisible architecture of nature.
With references to the Sienese altarpieces of the Renaissance, my paintings evoke the aureoles or haloes depicted by Giotto and Masaccio, adding a spiritual light to the particles while adhering to the minimal intensity of Agnes Martin’s work. I invite audiences to reflect on the paradox of our cosmos: everything we see, feel, and experience is built upon particles we cannot perceive. By giving them form, Quantum transforms scientific mystery into artistic celebration.
